James Maddison shares his first reaction to Tottenham Hotspur’s Timo Werner deal
Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signing of Timo Werner for next season having negotiated a new deal with RB Leipzig.
Tottenham were always going to prioritise attacking signings after finishing with a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

Tottenham had an option to sign Werner permanently but have now confirmed a move to bring him back on loan for the full 2024-25 season.
This gives Tottenham a little more time to decide on a permanent deal given that Werner missed the final stages of the campaign through injury.

Some Tottenham fans may not be completely sold on Werner.
The former Chelsea man isn’t the most refined player in front of goal and another loan for the 28-year-old doesn’t really seem like building a team for the future.
Still, Werner posed a threat when attacking down Tottenham’s left flank and his ability to get to the byline and cause defenders problems with his pace was clear to see.
Postecoglou may feel that Werner will become even better after a full pre-season at Tottenham and that he can finally find the consistent end product to become a Premier League star.
One man who certainly seems pleased with the move is James maddison, who spoke to sky sport as the news broke on Tuesday evening.
Maddison was hosting a charity golf tournament on Tuesday, raising money for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in Barnet.
Maddison admitted that Werner actually messaged him to say that he wanted to take part but couldn’t due to the clash with his wedding.
The Spurs playmaker added that Werner’s return ‘sounds good’, believing that the deal is ‘good news’ for Tottenham.
