Tottenham Hotspur have plenty of work to do in this summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks to radically improve the overall quality and strength of his squad
Spurs started the season brightly under their new coach and as of mid-April they were still fighting for a place in the Premier League’s top four
However, after a series of 4 consecutive defeats, Tottenham is trying to rise to 5th place in the rankings
The foundations are certainly in place, and this summer will see Spurs add further quality to their ranks
A Spanish report claims Tottenham have made an approach for the striker considered “one of the most talented players of his generation”
The player in question is Barcelona’s Vitor Roque, who joined the La Liga club with great fanfare in this season’s January transfer window
However, the 19-year-old – who joined the club for an initial fee of £26m – has made just 13 appearances for his new club, totaling just 310 minutes of action
With this in mind, AS have reported that Barca and Roque’s side are considering the player’s future for next season
According to the report, Tottenham, “with whom almost everything was agreed” before the player switched Athletico Paranaense to Barça, have knocked on the door
However, Spurs are not the only ones chasing Roque
According to reports, he has received around 30 different requests for a summer transfer, including to Manchester United, Chelsea and Napoli
Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Vitor Roque
Roque, born in Timoteo, Minas Gerais, began his football journey at America Mineiro in 2015, before joining Cruzeiro’s academy in 2019
He joined the first team two years later, then joined Athletico Paranaense in 2022, where he earned a starting spot establishing himself as one of Brazil’s top talents
Roque’s 28 goals and 11 assists in 81 competitive appearances earned him a move to Barca at the end of last year, with a contract until 2031
Soccer Talent Scout Jacek Kulig described Roque as “one of the most talented players of his generation, not only in Brazil but also in South America
” Kulig also compared Tottenham’s announced goal with Brazilian legend Ronaldo and rated his potential 10/10
Overall, Roque looks an incredible player to sign for Tottenham, but there will certainly be a lot of competition for his services
We will also have to see whether Barca choose to loan him out, sell him (to be honest, it seems unlikely) or give him another chance in the first team in the 2024/25 season
