Tottenham face Aston Villa this weekend in a clash that could ultimately be decisive in terms of who finishes in the top four.
The north London club are breathing down vla neck in the the Premier League at the moment, but, a win here will either close that gap or give Villa a bit of breathing room.
This one will be very tough to call. On one hand, Villa have been almost unbeatable at home this season, but, then again, they have been patchy as of late – almost throwing away a comfortable lead against Luton at the weekend.
As ever, Paul Merson has stuck his neck on the line and given a prediction for this game in his column for sport keda , and he’s backed this one to be a 2-2 draw.
Paul Merson predicts Aston Villa vs Tottenham
Merson shared his verdict on how this game will go.
“If Tottenham lose this one, they’ll go eight points behind Aston Villa. They’d still have a game in hand, but this is more of a ‘don’t lose’ kind of game for Ange Postecoglou and his team. Both teams play such a high line and have a bunch of talented attacking players, so this will be an entertaining game of football,” Merson wrote.
“If Villa win, I think they’ll put the top-four race to bed, which is honestly an unbelievable feat.I’m looking at their squads and the seasons they’ve had so far, but I just can’t seem to separate them.”
Regardless of the result of this game, we feel we can almost guarantee one thing, this one will be close.
These are two teams who like to play an expansive and exciting style of play, and we expect there to be goals in this one.
Ultimately, the result will come down to whoever takes their chances, but with home advantage and Ollie Watkins in the form of his life, we have to name Villa as favourites to win here.
