“I can’t join a team who have been trophyless and neither have a chance of winning any. I think Spurs should be… “ Tottenham top midfielder target have just rejected their offer and give opinion on what could end their trophyless years

A move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher from Tottenham Hotspur this month has reportedly fallen through, but the Lilywhites remain interested in the player
The 23-year-old has been an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, appearing in 20 Premier League games, starting every one and providing four assists
Since returning from a loan spell with First Division side Crystal Palace in the summer of 2022, Gallagher has made 71 appearances for the West London club, scoring three goals
Thanks to his performances, the midfielder has also recently appeared on the international stage, making 11 international appearances for England’s Gareth Southgate after making his debut in November 2021
Tottenham have given up on hopes of bringing Gallagher from Chelsea to the capital during the January transfer window, according to Football Insider
The report claims that negotiations between Spurs and the Blues have now broken down, making it impossible to conclude a deal within the next two weeks
Pochettino will continue to manage Gallagher until at least the summer, as the former West Bromwich Albion loanee has missed just one Premier League game this season
It is understood that he wants to continue
Despite the transfer not being completed this month, Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou is still a big fan of the player and will be keen to sign him in the summer
Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips has attracted interest from the north Londoners and it is thought the Lilywhites will look at alternative options before the deal closes at the end of the month
The former Leeds United player is targeting a move away from Josep Guardiola’s side in the second half of the season as he looks to secure a place in Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s European Championship
Treble-winning Citizens are reportedly willing to let Phillips go until the end of the season as part of a short-term deal and are reportedly demanding a loan fee of up to £6m
Last week, it was reported that Spurs would consider recalling Tanguy Ndombele from his loan spell at Galatasaray if Postecoglou’s side were unable to secure Gallagher this month
The Frenchman has only played four league games for the Turkish giants so far in the 2023/24 season, but could be open to a return to the Premier League
Spurs have been relatively busy in the winter transfer window so far, bringing Timo Werner to the club on loan from RB Leipzig before confirming the permanent acquisition of Radu Dragusin from Genoa
