Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has been ruled out of the game against Crystal Palace today due to injury, but Brazil manager Dorival Junior is not too worried.
The 26-year-old was called up the Brazil squad for their games against England and Spain later this month. That came as a concern to Tottenham fans, but they can breathe a sigh of relief now.
Brazil manager confirms Tottenham star Richarlison’s injury is not serious
Tottenham signed Richarlison for £60 million from Everton back in 2022 (ESPN).
The Brazilian had a disastrous debut campaign in North London. Many even viewed him as a big flop because he managed just one goal in the Premier League all season.
Richarlison had a difficult start this time as well, but since undergoing surgery on a long-term issue he had been struggling with, he has looked like a completely different player.
In his last 10 Premier League games for Tottenham, Richarlison has scored nine goals. He has been in incredible form, which is why it’s such a shame that he is injured now.
Ange Postecoglou ruled him out for a few weeks yesterday and revealed that he is really ‘disappointed’ because of his injury.
Now, Brazil boss Dorival Junior, after consulting with his doctors, has revealed that Richarlison should be back very, very soon.
He said, as per Globo Esporte: “Doctor Rodrigo Lasmar got in touch this morning as soon as the news hit the websites, they’re optimistic, they’ve lined up the situation.
“He’ll probably miss his team’s next match, but it’s possible that he’ll be fit soon. From what they’ve been told, they don’t see a situation that’s a problem, not least because they believe in a quick solution.”
Big boost for Tottenham
Richarlison is definitely ruled out of today’s game, and if Ange Postecoglou‘s comments are to be believed, he won’t be back for three to four weeks.
That means the Brazilian will miss Spurs’ games against Crystal Palace today, Aston Villa next week and Fulham just before the international break.
Dorival Junior, after consulting with the doctor, seems certain that Richarlison will be back at that point, which is excellent news for Brazil and Tottenham ahead of the business end of the season.
He has proved to be a very important player under Postecoglou, and if he can come up with the goods in April and May, Spurs could end up finishing inside the top four, which would be a very good achievement.
