Tottenham beat Newcastle United with ease today and Gary Neville was really impressed with the performance of Dejan Kulusevski.
The Swedish midfielder once again drifted more centrally as he continues to fill the void left by James Maddison’s injury.
Kulusevski has been something of a revelation ever since he completed a £25m move to Spurs.
With Maddison missing, Kulusevski’s performances in the middle have proved to be a real bonus for Ange Postecoglou.
And watching him for Sky Sportstoday, Gary Nevilleadmitted to being super impressed with how well Kulusevski has done in the middle of the park.
“I really like Kulusevski in that position, centrally. I know James Maddison might come back into things further in the season but he’s looking good. Really impressive,” Neville said.
Kulusevski is brilliant for Tottenham right now
Tottenham were back to their best today and key to it was the performance of Kulusevski.
Over time, he’s become more and more important to Spurs and it’s quite remarkable that there was a point both he and Heung-Min Son were being left out by Antonio Conte.
The Swedish winger does the business in a lot of games now and as Neville says, this central position seems to be suiting him really well.
Of course, Maddison will come back into the starting XI when he’s back. There is no doubt about that.
But Kulusevski has proven to his manager that things can be changed up needs be and he’s definitely a top option in the middle as things stand.
