TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR COULD SIGN ‘WORLD-CLASS’ PLAYER FOR £50M IN SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelsea all are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Brentford in the summer transfer window, HITC understands.

Toney is under contract at Brentford until the summer of 2025, but it is now unlikely that the England international striker will put pen to paper on a new deal.

Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur could sign Ivan Toney for £50-£60m

Brentford and Toney had looked at the possibility of extending his deal in January, but the 27-year-old would have insisted on a release clause.

It now looks unlikely an extension will be pushed by either side, with the striker set to leave at the end of the season. Brentford manager Thomas Frank has publicly said that it is “obvious” that Toney will not be at the London club next season.

Sources have told HITC that Brentford wanted £80 million for Toney in the January transfer window. No club was willing to pay that. We understand that the striker’s price in the summer of 2024 will be around £50 to £60 million.

Toney is one of the best strikers in the Premier League. He was described as “a world-class” player by former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The striker has made 71 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Toney has scored 34 goals and given nine assists in those games.

While Brentford are aiming to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season, Arsenal, who are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong, are looking to win the Premier League title while Tottenham are in the running for the top four.
