Newcastle United are braced for more leaks to emerge in the public arena after WhatsApp messages have recently been released in the press.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider there are questions over where the leaks have come from and what else those people have to distribute.
Messages leaked by The Telegraph on 20 October show Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, personally controlled the takeover of Newcastle by the state’s sovereign wealth fund (PIF).
The Tyneside club were eventually sold for £305million in October 2021 after the Premier League was given “legally-binding assurances” the PIF was separate from the Saudi state.
Newcastle’s chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, is the governor of PIF and chairman of state-owned petroleum company Saudi Aramco.

“A problem Newcastle may have is whether these are the only leaks,” Borson told Football Insider.
“The whole thing is quite odd anyway.
Where have the leaks come from? Who has leaked them and why? What else do those people have? What else have they sent to The Telegraph? What else are The Telegraph sitting on? We don’t know.
“If they drip feed those out, then you don’t know, it could be problematic. It’s not ideal.
“But the reality is if the situation is as they have undertaken to the Premier League, then there won’t be a problem.”
