Raw talent waiting to explode at Tottenham !£30M offer submitted,

Dean Jones has become the latest journalist to report on Tottenham’s interest in Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori, suggesting that a late move by Spurs for the youngster could be on the cards this month.

Ange Postecoglou now has three top-quality central defenders at his disposal after Radu Dragusin’s arrival, while Ben Davies has also filled in impressively at the heart of the defence this season.
However, it has been suggested over recent weeks that Tottenham might not be done strengthening their backline just yet, with reports from Italy suggesting that Calafiori is on the club’s radar.

This includes an update by Gazzetta dello Sport, who claimed a couple of days ago that the Lilywhites might have to wait until the summer to land the 21-year-old as Bologna do not want to let the youngster leave the club mid-season.

Tottenham are looking at Riccardo Calafiori

Jones has now said that Tottenham’s focus for the moment is on getting some players out of the door and trimming the squad.

However, he made it clear that Ange Postecoglou’s men are still on the look for market opportunities and really like Calafiori’s profile, suggesting that a late move for the Italy Under-21 international might be on the cards.

Jones told GiveMeSport about Spurs’ transfer plans: “The intent has been on moving players on and that has gone brilliantly over the past couple of weeks, and there are a couple of situations still being dealt with this weekend.

“It’s interesting because it is going to allow Spurs some room to manoeuvre in the final week of the window and we all know they have a tradition of liking a late deal.

“Calafiori has a profile that would fit with what we have been told to expect from Spurs in terms of emerging talent over the course of this year and it would not surprise me if they look to advance that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With Tottenham now working on the Nusa deal and also needing to get a central midfielder through the door, I do not think there is any chance that the club will also be able to sign another centre-back before the February 1 deadline.

However, we know that Spurs keep a close eye on the Italian market, with Fabio Paratici continuing to work on a consultancy basis for the club. So, there is a decent chance that the Lilywhites will return for Calafiori next summer if he continues performing at the same level for Bologna.
