Ian Wright has had a go at Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison for getting caught offside on more than one occasion against Brighton this week.
Spurs were at the end of a hammering by Roberto De Zerbi‘s side, who were 4-0 up at one point on Thursday. Tottenham, however, weren’t completely out of the game at any point – Richarlison could’ve scored twice, but he failed to time his runs.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright got the better of several offside traps back in his day.
The Englishman was one of the best strikers around when he was playing, and there aren’t many who are more capable of judging a forward’s play than him.
Wright spoke about Richarlison on his podcast yesterday, and the Arsenal legend was so frustrated with the Tottenham Hotspur forward.
He had a real go at the Brazilian for not being smart enough to delay his run a little, and the fact that he has been making the same mistake repeatedly is just unacceptable.
Wright said on his podcast: “Honestly, watching Richarlison, the thing that just riles me up more than anything else in the current climate of strikers is that why is he going so early when he’s got so much space.
The midfielder or the player who’s going to pass it to him has so much time, he can see the back of the defender, and he still goes early. He could’ve scored two goals, he had two goals disallowed where all he’s got to do is just look at this guy’s number, you can see the margins we’re dealing with.
“For me, I’m sorry, as a manager, I’m coming and saying that’s not acceptable. That’s not acceptable when you can see – ‘Okay, let me not go past him. I’ve got so much space.’ He’s got so much time.”
Richarlison needs to work on his movement
One of Tottenham‘s big positives in December is that Richarlison has finally found his feet.
The 26-year-old Brazilian, after a shockingly bad first 18 months, underwent surgery and then came back a different player. He scored four goals in the three games before Thursday, and that tally could’ve easily gone up to six in four if he just timed his runs.
Ange Postecoglou‘s free-flowing system means Richarlison will have opportunities to score in almost every game. His finishing has been excellent recently, so the only thing he needs to master is his runs in behind.
Tottenham take on Bounrmeouth next in a game where there will be space for Richarlison. If he can time his runs right, he could score a goal or two.
