Finally,James Maddison still not out of medical treatment Ange postecoglou have another player like James Maddison who is ready to face Newcastle

It wasn’t so long ago that Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur were flying high, playing some of the best football in the Premier League and with some of the best players on show.

As a result, there were many things the Tottenham fans were eagerly waiting for, including seeing Rodrigo Bentancur link-up with James Maddison and Yves Bissouma in the middle of the park.

But because of injuries, not only have Spurs fans not seen that trio start together this season, they might not see it until February, at the earliest.

Either way, when they do, Clinton Morrison thinks Tottenham have a player in Rodrigo Bentancur, who has similar qualities to James Maddison because he too can ‘unlock defences’, as he told Sky Sports News(09/12/23 at 12:20 pm).

One area of worry for the fanbase has been the fact that only James Maddison can play in those pockets, connect play with the forwards and create pictures like no other.

But don’t forget Rodrigo Bentancur because, before his long-term injury last season, he was cooking for then-Antonio Conte’s side.

Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison

“When you don’t have a player like Maddison, he does create,” said Morrison. “I look at the midfield and I am thinking Bissouma has been outstanding.

“But Bentancur, when he is in that midfield, he can pick the passes and unlock the defence.”

Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa - Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United

Both teams will clash on Sunday, with injuries hitting them hard and poor results making matters worse for them in midweek.

The issue Postecoglou faces is that, every time his team takes the lead, they end up on the losing side.

That inability to kill off the game is costing them, and if they do the same against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, then they have the firepower to punish them.

This is going to make for interesting viewing because both teams aren’t at their best, form-wise, or in terms of the strength of their squads.
