“BLUNT RESPONSE” Ange Postecoglou gives extremely blunt response when asked if Dier will start against Manchester City

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has stated that Eric Dier will not be starting against Manchester City.

Dier is a player who has failed to impress the Australian losing his place not only in the starting XI but has also fallen down the pecking order.

The club signed Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg in the summer who formed a formidable partnership with Romero at the back.

However, the Dutch defender has suffered a hamstring injury which will see him out of action for the foreseeable future.

Romero meanwhile is currently serving a 3 game ban and will also be unavailable for the game against Manchester City.

Despite these setbacks, Dier remains on the fringes, notably replaced by Emerson Royal in recent makeshift defensive roles.

The decision to exclude Dier against Aston Villa solidified doubts about his standing within the squad under Postecoglou.

Ange was speaking to the media ahead of the game this weekend against Manchester City and he was asked by Alasdair Gold if Dier will be back in the team with his height being an advantage against Erling Haaland.

But the former Celtic manager very bluntly dismissed the idea with a “NO”.
