Destiny Udogie has revealed his first interaction with Ange Postecoglou helped to motivate him for life at Tottenham Hotspur.
While Antonio Conte signed the Italian, it was Postecoglou who instilled belief into him at the start of the campaign. Udogie arrived almost 18 months ago but was loaned back out immediately to Udinese.
Left-back was a concern for Spurs last season but the 20-year-old has made the position his own in to emerge as one of the Premier League’s most promising talents. A mixture of suspension and injury has resulted in Udogiebeing absent in recent weeks but he is expected back against Aston Villa.

Speaking to The Athletic, the defender opened up about how his initial chat with Postecoglou helped him settle at the club – despite being asked to tweak his role. Udogie said: “The first day I came in, he called me to speak with him and he told me I’m a key player for him.

“He explained what he wanted from me and knowing I had the trust of the head coach was a big motivation. In the beginning, playing as an inverted full-back was a bit different because I was a wing-back.
