It’s a good feeling to play against that “brilliant” spur superstar Unai Emery name the Tottenham player who is the reason behind there victory…

Unai Emery explains touchline interaction with Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham Hotspur’s loss to Aston Villa

Aston Villa beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (26 November) in the Premier League, with Unai Emery and Ange Postecoglou both engaging in a post-match interaction on the touchline.

It was clear the interaction was in good spirits, as they hugged and embraced each other, speaking for around 10 seconds. After the match, the former Arsenal and Aston Villa manager asked what he told Postecoglou, to which he replied (h/t BirminghamLive):

“In football, when someone is coming in and adding tactically different ways, or tactically showing something really successful way. I appreciate it.”

“As well, I usually want to analyse and understand and Ange is doing very good work, amazing here. He did as well at Celtic and in Japan, Australia. I appreciate a lot the coaches when they’re doing something like he’s doing.”

Ange’s Tottenham haven’t changed the basics despite Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and James Maddison’s absence in recent weeks. The forwards still press a lot.

Ange’s Tottenham showing positives

The defence still plays a high line, and the team is very attack-minded, focused on winning the ball high up the pitch and catching their opponents off guard. This was also on full display against the Villans.

We have lost three games in a row in the Premier League, but this one against Villa had several positives. We had a lot of chances to score and if it wasn’t for the offside flags, we could have walked away with a win.

That being said, there were gaps in defence. Ollie Watkins himself had a goal disallowed for offside in the very next minute after Giovani Lo Celso’s first-half screamer, as no one followed the Aston Villa striker’s run into the box.

The January transfer window will be important. We have to strengthen the team in multiple positions to give Ange the best possible squad to attain his goal.
Many said that Van de Ven, Romero and Maddison would be crucial if we were to win the title. And as luck would have it, the three have been missing recently. We can’t stay dependant on just a few names and need more depth so that Ange’s tactics don’t get compromised by personnel.
