Roy Keane didn’t hold back in his assessment of Tottenham after their defeat to Aston Villa… labelling their defensive play as ‘Spursy.’
Spurs slipped to their third straight defeat as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Aston Villa.
Giovani Lo Celso put Ange Postecoglou’s men in front midway through the first half but they were pegged back by Pau Torres in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
Ollie Watkins then poked home what proved to be the winner on 61 minutes and it was this strike which prompted Keane, who grew up a Spurs fan, to unleash his brutal verdict.
Keane said on Sky Sports: “Lovely goal from Villa, lovely finish, but defensively from Spurs, woah, really…. Spursy.”
The defeat means Spurs, who were top of the Premier League at the beginning of the month, fall down to fifth in the table.
The way they’ve gone from Premier League pacesetters to no longer being in the Champions League spots in a matter of weeks will be alarming to all those of a Spurs persuasion… but it is quite ‘Spursy’.
