Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur target Evan Ferguson.
Spurs are expected to be on the market for an out-and-out striker in 2024, and among all the names linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Ferguson. Lineker seems to be a huge fan of him.
Gary Lineker says Tottenham target Evan Ferguson has got real talent
Evan Ferguson is arguably the best young striker in the Premier League right now, and Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign him.
Spurs decided against replacing Harry Kanein the summer transfer window. Son Heung-min has done remarkably well as a number nine, but Ange Postecoglou would like to get himself an out-and-out centre-forward at some point in the near future.
TalkSPORT revealed back in August that Tottenham boss Postecoglou is a huge admirer of young Ferguson, who turned 19 less than a month ago.
Spurs’ rivals Arsenal have also been linkedwith a move to sign the teenager, who is valued at £100 million by Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton (Football Transfers).
On the Rest is Football podcast this week, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were asked to name the second-best striker in the Premier League after Erling Haaland.
Lineker named Tottenham star Son, while Richards went for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
The latter then said: “We’ve got to talk about Ferguson as well, Brighton.”
Lineker replied: “Probably not quite yet, but he could well be. He’s got real talent.”
Tottenham target Ferguson is a huge talent
Evan Ferguson is still just 19 years old, but everyone who has watched him can see he has a massive future ahead of him.
The teenager has all the qualities you would want from a striker. He could be the next Harry Kane, with the Brighton man admitting that he watches the England captain and tries to take bits from his game.
Tottenham will have to sign a new striker next year to replace Kane, and Ferguson, as expensive as he will be, would be an amazing option for them. Lineker has even previously backed Spurs to sign him.
However, we’re sure a number of clubs in the Premier League will be in the race for his signature as well.
