“He is the best” Rio Ferdinand says the £43m ‘real deal’player must be playing the best game of his life at Tottenham Hotspur

Rio Ferdinand admits he has been blown away by Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven upon his jaw-dropping introduction to the Premier League this season following a big-money transfer.

Tottenham splashed out £43million to sign van de Ven from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg this summer and on early evidence alone that appears to be money well spent. The 22-year-old Netherlands starlet has been a mainstay for the table-toppers while playing every single minute.
Van de Ven has started 10 matches for Tottenham this season while totting-up 900 minutes and helping his team keep four clean sheets. The left-sider has struck-up an impressive centre-back partnership with Cristian Romero as Tottenham go from strength to strength under Ange Postecoglou
The free-scoring north Londoners have really caught the eye with their attacking play this campaign. However, as former Manchester United captain Ferdinand explains, due credit must also go to the club’s defensive players such as van de Ven for their unbeaten start.

Speaking about the Dutchman on his FIVEpodcast, footballer turned TV pundit Ferdinand said: “[Cristian] Romero and Micky van de Ven are arguably the best central defence pairing at the moment in the Premier League on form. They’ve been immense.”

Ferdinand continued: “This Micky van de Ven, bro, he is the real deal. He’s the real deal.
