“Very Comprehensive”Here’s the statement Tottenham issue after Destiny Udogie suffers suffered racist abuse on social media

Tottenham have said they are “disgusted” at the racist messages directed towards Destiny Udogie following Spurs’ 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday evening. Once again playing a starring role for Ange Postecoglou’s men down the left flank, the 20-year-old was involved in one of the game’s big talking points in the second half and unfortunately was the victim of racist abuse online following the match.

Already down one player down following Curtis Jones’ red card, Liverpool were reduced to nine men in the 69th minute after Diogo Jota was dismissed for two bookable offences. Adjudged to have fouled Udogie on both occasions, there appeared to be minimal contact on the left-back for his first booking of the contest, before he then fouled the Italian moments later and saw red as a result.

One of a number of talking points in the match, Spurs went on to win the fixture in the dying seconds after Joel Matip had put Pedro Porro’s cross through his own net. Udogie posted on social media after the game to celebrate the win but was unfortunately greeted by a number of racist messages, something that Tottenham totally condemn.

A statement on Tottenham’s official website read: “We are disgusted at the racist messages directed towards Destiny Udogie on social media following Saturday’s game against Liverpool.
