’TOTTENHAM KNOW IT’: IAN WRIGHT SHARES WHAT HE HAS NOTICED WHEN JAMES MADDISON GETS THE BALL

Ian Wright says Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur ‘come alive’ as soon as James Maddison gets on the ball.

The 26-year-old has started like a house on fire at Tottenham following his summer transfer from Leicester City.

Whilst James Maddison won the FA Cup under Brendan Rodgers, you have to question what on earth was happening at the King Power that they were so bad to go down with a player like him on their books.

Either way, Tottenham benefited from it because they snapped him up as soon as possible, with Wright loving the impact he has made, as he told Premier League Productions (02/10/23 at 2:20 pm).

Spurs fans will be crying from the rooftops that they should have signed him a lot earlier – that’s something Glenn Hoddle was previously shouting about.

Late or not. James Maddison is in the building at Hotspur Way now and making an impact.

“They have got a guy in James Maddison, as soon as he gets the ball, ‘boom’,” said Wright. “They come alive. And they know it. The fans know it, especially at home.”

Can Maddison fire Spurs to the Champions League?

Unbeaten after seven Premier League games. Scoring goals for fun. Four points from Arsenal and Liverpool games.

It has been an impressive start by Ange Postecoglou’s men. But can they secure Champions League football this term?

They will have a fight on their hands because of the number of teams pushing for those spots, but if they keep Maddison fit all season long, then their chances increase massively.
