Jamie Redknapp has lauded James Maddison and what he has brought to the table at Tottenham Hotspur.
On Saturday, Ange Postecoglou’s side added another bow to their arrow when Tottenham Hotspursecured a quite dramatic and breathtaking stoppage-time win over Sheffield United – their manager, Paul Heckingbottom, wasn’t happy after the game.
Given that the goals came after the 98th minute, Redknapp made it clear that ‘people won’t be leaving the stadium early anymore’, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (16/09/23 at 8:20 pm).
Whilst James Maddison won the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August, he didn’t get his name to any of those goals yesterday, but Redknapp was still sure to mention that he has ‘added so much’ in the middle of the park.
Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane has quickly been forgotten about because of how everybody, from Postecoglou to Maddison to Yves Bissouma, have all played their part in this uplift in form.
Yes, it’s still early days, but the mood and environment at Spurs has never been better.

“They are the sort of wins, especially at home, that belief, because every time you play now, you think you can do it again,” said Redknapp.
“People won’t be leaving the stadium early anymore.
“James Maddison has added so much to that in midfield. He just looks perfect in the kit. It has been a really, really good start for Ange.”
Maddison – the main man at Tottenham?
Given that he wants to be the main man at the dinner table, you would imagine that he wants such a role on the football pitch too.
The England international certainly has the quality, flair and confidence to take such a role.
But this is a much-changed Spurs team now because they are no longer relying upon that focal figure up top, and instead, asking more people to step up and take responsibility.
