DONE DEAL IMMINENT!!!! Tuchel personally close to wrapping up the deal of ‘intelligent’ £42m Manchester city player NOT Walker!

It has been reported that Thomas Tuchel is now personally keen on Bayern Munich wrapping up a transfer for Kalvin Phillips.

This comes from BILD, after it was claimed five days ago that the Manchester City midfielder was considered as the German giants’ alternative to Declan Rice.

Now, it seems Thomas Tuchel is pushing Bayern Munich to get a deal wrapped up for Kalvin Phillips, who was once branded as an ‘intelligent player’ by Pep Guardiola.

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel aims for Kalvin Phillips transfer

The £42 million (Sky Sports) man has had a torrid time at the Etihad Stadium, despite winning the treble in his debut season at the club.

With injuries coupled with Rodri’s brilliance, the 27-year-old was resigned to a mere two starts in the Premier League last season, as it was clear to see that Pep Guardiola was yet to trust his game.

Now, it has been reported that Thomas Tuchel considers Kalvin Phillips as a part of his ‘blueprint for the future’, as he has been given more control than previous Bayern Munich managers in the transfer department.

It has also been claimed that a move for the England international is ‘already under discussion’, as the club aim to bolster their midfield.

Manchester City should keep the Englishman

Had Declan Rice signed for Manchester City, it would have perhaps made sense for the club to have sold his fellow countryman to Thomas Tuchel and his Bayern side.

However, since the move has been called off, Rodri will once again need an understudy in the following campaign.

Despite Phillips’ struggles in sky blue, as has been the case with a number of signings during the Guardiola era, he could turn things around in his second season at the club.

As a result, it would be silly for City to let the former Leeds United talisman leave, without having a replacement in place, as well as the potential of him finally settling in.
