DONE DEAL imminent- Tottenham have Officially submitted £40m bid for star Midfielder, Joy for Spurs fans

We covered a report from The Telegraph last Thursday, which claimed Ange Postecoglou has identified Maddison as his ‘priority target’ this summer, just a couple of days after being confirmed as the Tottenham head coach.
After receiving the green light from the Australian, it was alleged that the Spurs hierarchy were expected to push ahead with an opening offer for the England international.

However, the report added that Leicester are not prepared to let Maddison leave on the cheap and are set to demand over £50m for the player’s services even though he has just one year left on his contract.

It was subsequently reported by Sky Sports on Sunday that Newcastle were leading Spurs in the race for the attacking midfielder’s signature.

Spurs bid £40m for James Maddison
However, if The Daily Star’s latest update is to be believed, it is Tottenham who appear to have sunk the first blow in the race for Maddison.
The outlet says that Spurs are ready to undertake a rebuild of their squad ahead of Postecoglou’s first season in charge and have begun work to sign the 26-year-old.
It is asserted that the Lilywhites began negotiating with Leicester for Maddison last week and have now submitted their first offer of £40m.

Spurs Web Opinion

Leicester are likely to turn down this offer but £40m is certainly not a bad first offer by Spurs, given that Maddison has just one year left on his contract.

The Foxes will be hoping that Newcastle also start bidding for the attacking midfielder soon so that his price shoots up to around £50m.
