JUST IN.. Aston Villa seriously want to sign £87m Georgian goalkeeper, seen as a perfect upgrade on Emi Martinez

Aston Villa have been linked with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Athletic are reporting this morning that Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa want to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer transfer window.

Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and FC Porto are also monitoring the progress of the 22-year-old Georgia international goalkeeper.

The report has claimed that Mamardashvili is likely to leave La Liga club Valencia at the end of the season.

The youngster has a buyout clause of €100 million (£87 million) in his contract at Valencia, but Los Che could sell him for less, according to the report.

Tottenham Hotspur more appealing than Aston Villa for Giorgi Mamardashvili

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur would be a more appealing club for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili than Aston Villa.

Yes, Villa are doing extremely well under Unai Emery this season.

And Emiliano Martinez could leave the Villans in the summer transfer window.

So, Mamardashvili could just take the place of the 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina.

However, Tottenham are a bigger club.

Hugo Lloris is not getting any younger, and Mamardashvili could establish himself in the Tottenham first team straightaway and be at the North London club for years to come.

Spurs are a hugely ambitious club who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.
