Newcastle United fans are all saying the same thing about Anthony Gordon after performance vs West Ham

Anthony Gordon had a difficult evening at St James’ Park as Newcastle United lost 2-0 to West Ham.

The November international break came at a terrible time for Newcastle United, who lost all momentum and sharpness against the Hammers on Monday evening.

Newcastle actually started brightly at St James’ Park but Tomas Soucek scored against the run of play and Aaron Wan-Bissaka doubled their lead in the second half.

It was a frustrating performance from Newcastle’s attacking trio with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak missing huge chances from close range. It is not the first time they have been made to pay for their poor finishing.

Anthony Gordon struggled for Newcastle vs West Ham

As predicted, Gordon started out wide for Newcastle against West Ham on his favourable left side before Eddie Howe decided to flip his wingers in the second half.

Gordon was superb for England over the break and he even scored his first international goal against Ireland at Wembley, but he didn’t have the same luck at St James’ Park.

The 23-year-old has only scored twice this season and his frustrating run in front of goal continued on Monday night.

Gordon only completed 71 percent of his passes (17 out of 24) with fans around the stadium audibly sighing at his misplaced efforts late on.

He also lost possession 10 times and missed one big chance when he fired his effort straight at West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski in the first half.

Howe eventually made the decision to replace Gordon in the 68th minute with Callum Wilson.

Newcastle fans frustrated by Anthony Gordon performance

Newcastle fans flocked to social media after the West Ham defeat and they weren’t overly impressed by Gordon’s performance.

Via X, formerly known as Twitter, one supporter wrote: “Anthony Gordon has GHOSTED this game” while another said: “Anthony Gordon in a black and white shirt this season has been shocking #NUFC”

third fan posted: “Gordon needs to start showing up for club as his country spot won’t be his for long – been very very poor.”

Another said: “Gordon disappeared again. Newcastle poor here against one of the worst teams in the league, #NUFC”

Finally, another fan wrote: “Gordon needs to turn up. When Joelinton was in the right, we were best down the right. When he went to the left, we were best down the left. We’re dominating the game, but very little in the box because nobody is going past anybody #nufc”
