Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has been included in the latest England squad but Ollie Watkins and Jacob Ramsey have been left out.
It’s Mings first inclusion in the squad since March 2022 when he played and scored in a friendly against Ivory Coast. He will join up with the Three Lions for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
But it is disappointment for Watkins and Ramsey who have been overlooked by England boss Garth Southgate. The duo have impressed for Villa under Unai Emery but will not be joining Mings during the international break in June.
Here is how Villa fans reacted on social media to the announcement…
Only_Villa: Deserved but where is Watkins and Ramsey
Lennan: Not a bad squad, great to see Mings back in there. It’s also great to see Dunk, Eze and Guehi make the team – well deserved. I just really can’t get my head around what Gallagher has done to warrant a call-up. Ramsey would surely be in if it wasn’t for the U21 Euros.
Tom Bull: Wilson has been much better than Watkins this season, but Maddison over Ramsey is a shocking decision
Snerris: How has Ramsey and Watkins not made it?
Nick Moss: Ramsey, Konsa, Watkins all shafted
Total Villa: I don’t care what anyone says, I do not see how Gareth Southgate can justify selecting the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Conor Gallagher in midfield and leave out someone like Jacob Ramsey
CommonSenseThx: Ramsey is LEVELS above Gallagher, he’s also better than Eze who has only been decent for the last month or so
Greg: Mings back in the England squad felt Ramsey and Watkins should be too! He’s defo got his faves
