Gary Neville has admitted Tottenham have made a fantastic start to the Premier League season but that Ange Postecoglou should be wary of one thing. Spurs have thus far taken 13 points from a possible 15 with a last-gasp Dejan Kulusevski winner against Sheffield United keeping them hot on the tails of Manchester City and level on points with Liverpool and Arsenal.
In comparison to recent seasons, the north Londoners are providing an entertaining style of football for their supporters, guided by Postecoglou. Tottenham have scored at least two goals in every game with five knocked past Burnley before the international break and they have also kept two clean sheets in the process.
The bright start led Neville to providing his early thoughts on matters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with significant praise for how Postecoglou sets up his teams. “Well I think we said when we went to Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, it was a Saturday night and they were playing Manchester United, that they were gonna have a lot of fun this season with the way in which Postecoglou plays,” he said on the Gary Neville podcast.
There’s no doubt with Postecoglou that they believe this is a man that’s a good man, he speaks up in interviews, he’s got an honesty about him, he plays good football, he takes risk – which I think is really important for Spurs fans. At this moment, I would say it’s absolutely fantastic but we need to just review it in January, because I’m sure that’s what the Tottenham coaching staff will be thinking; very early in the season, not a time to get carried away, a time to keep working and next weekend is a showcase game I can’t wait for.”
