Nottingham Forest directed a brutal chant at Ange Postecoglou after the 3-2 Europa League loss to FC Midtjylland on Thursday.
In their first home European clash since 1980, Forest suffered another defeat since Postecoglou took the reins following the controversial sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Ousmane Diao put the Danish side 1-0 up from a set play before Dan Ndoye levelled matters – only for Mads Bech Sorensen to make it 2-1 from a similar situation moments later.
Valdemar Andreasen made it 3-1 later only prior to Chris Wood converting a late consolation penalty to make it 3-2.Postecoglou is still yet to record a victory since taking the Forest job 23 days, with four losses and two draws in six games.
And a large section of fans let their feelings be known when the third goal went on, bucking the “You’re sacked in the morning” chant trend by singing at their own manager.
They also appeared to chant the name of former boss Nuno, who recently replaced Graham Potter as the new West Ham manager.
Postecoglou addressed the chants in a TNT Sports post-match interview, commenting: “I heard it. They’re fans and they want to see their team win. They’re entitled to their opinion. Nothing surprises me in football anymore.”
The Australian, who led Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years with a Europa League win last season, has already set an unwanted record at the City Ground – becoming the first Forest manager in 100 years to not win any of his first six games.
His side have conceded 13 goals in that time going into games against Newcastle, Chelsea, Porto, Bournemouth and Manchester United in the next stretch.
