FANS DEMAND PLAYER SHOULD NEVER START FOR REAL BETIS AGAIN AFTER WHAT HE DID IN RAYO VALLECANO DRAW; THEY’RE DESTROYING HIM ONLINE
Real Betis fans have taken to social media in outrage following their team’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Rayo Vallecano, with much of the anger directed toward one player in particular — veteran goalkeeper Adrián. The 37-year-old shot-stopper received a dismal rating of 3.6, the lowest among all players on the pitch, and supporters are calling for him to be dropped indefinitely.
Adrián’s performance came under heavy scrutiny after key errors were seen as contributing factors in both goals conceded. While his experience once made him a dependable presence between the sticks, Thursday night’s performance was widely panned as sluggish and error-prone. Fans on social platforms were ruthless, with many suggesting that it’s time for Real Betis to move on and give opportunities to younger goalkeeping options.
The rest of the squad didn’t exactly shine either, with many players receiving underwhelming ratings. Defenders Rui Rodríguez, Youssouf Sabaly, and Natan each earned ratings of 3.7 or 3.8, showing a general lack of defensive solidity. Marc Bartra, also rated 3.8, struggled to assert control in the backline.
In midfield, Pablo Fornals was another disappointment, scoring just 3.7, and failing to provide the creative spark fans hoped for. However, Isco (4.5) and Antony (4.7) were bright spots, with the latter being particularly lively and influential in the attacking third.
J. Hernández, who scored, was rated 4.3, but the pressure seemed too much at times as he struggled to convert key chances late in the game. Ez Abde and J. Cardoso also showed flashes of intent with respectable scores of 4.1 and 4.0, respectively.
Off the bench, there were no game-changers either. Substitutes like Cedric Bakambu, William Carvalho, and Aitor Ruibal all scored 3.7, offering little impact. Giovani Lo Celso, despite a better 4.1 rating, didn’t have enough time to truly swing the match in Betis’s favor.
Real Betis fans have made their feelings clear: for many, Adrián’s time as first-choice goalkeeper should be over. With the team slipping in form and confidence, head coach Manuel Pellegrini may be forced to make bold changes ahead of their next match — and dropping Adrián could be the first domino to fall.
