ODYSSEAS VLACHODIMOS TO HELP SECURE NEWCASTLE TRANSFER: ‘CRAZY’ FANS REACTION

Odysseas Vlachodimos can help prevent any “complication” that would stop Martin Dubravka leaving Newcastle in January, fans of the club have claimed.

According to The Daily Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Saudi side Al-Shabab are interested in signing Dubravka in January, although the injury to Nick Pope could be a hurdle for the Magpies.

Pope is set to be out for up to a month and the Slovakian stepped in to replace him in the 4-0 win over Leicester City in January.

However, Newcastle supporters believe the presence of Vlachodimos in the squad means they should be able to facilitate the departure of Dubravka

Progress since the Saudi takeover has stalled with Eddie Howe working under tricky financial restrictions thanks to PSR rules, so any funds brought in will help ease such pressures.

Newcastle told to use Vlachodimos to sell Dubravka

Having paid £20million to sign the Greek international from Nottingham Forest in the summer [The Athletic], the Magpies have so far used him just once.

That was when he came on at half-time in a Carabao Cup win over AFC Wimbledon, but Newcastle fans believe he must be given more opportunities, particularly if it helps raise funds through Dubravka’s sale.

One fan called it “crazy” that the club had spent so much money on the former Forest man without seeming to want to use him, while one of many pointing out he can cover for Pope noted he is an “international number one”

Vlachodimos is tipped to finally provide some value for money as Dubravka leaves with supporters claiming Newcastle have already got too many keepers.
