FANS FUMING AS LEICESTER CITY UNLIKELY TO MAKE MOVE FOR FORMER STAR IN JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

The January transfer window is just around the corner and Leicester City will be plotting moves for players to improve their squad.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will have some money to work with and although he has confirmed that there won’t be wholesale changes, the chance to bring in new recruits wouldn’t go amiss.

Among some of the names linked are four players who have previously played at the King Power Stadium.

The quartet have all failed to get significant game time this campaign, leading to some Foxes fans to propose the idea of them returning to the club, but, it seems that may not be the case.

Leicester City unlikely to make move for former stars in January transfer window

Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harvey Barnes has been mixed since leaving Leicester.

This season in particular has seen them all play nothing more than bit-part roles and in some cases, linked with a move away.

But, as revealed by Leicestershire Live, Leicester’s financial concerns may mean a move for any of them is out of the question.

Centre-back doesn’t appear to be an area that Van Nistelrooy wants to bring anyone in that position, therefore ruling out Maguire.

Chilwell has been told he can leave Chelsea in January and left-back is a position Leicester could improve in. A loan would be best suited, but that would require them to cancel Odsonne Edouard’s loan deal, which is a very real possibility. However, given the reception he’s received when returning to Leicester in the past, he may not be welcome back.

Leicester face similar fate for Dewsbury-Hall and Barnes

Dewsbury-Hall was someone that the Foxes planned to build their side around in the top flight only for them to sell him to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

However, with the resurgence of Boubakary Soumare and a plethora of options in that position, a move for the Leicester academy star isn’t one that wouldn’t be necessary.

Finally, Harvey Barnes has failed to set the world alight at Newcastle and reports have claimed they could sell him to fund for players elsewhere.

Unfortunately, Newcastle would want to recoup as much of the £38m that they paid for him in 2023 and right now, Leicester can’t afford it.
