Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has named the three players that he would want to bolster his side.
The Black Cats’ form as of recent has been far from pretty, with them being unable to notch a single win in their previous six Championship games, consisting of five consecutive draws.
There is no doubt that injuries have played a crucial role in the recent blip for Regis Le Bris’ side, with as many as eight names currently bulking up the list of unavailable players ahead of the upcoming game against Stoke City this weekend.
Sunderland boss Le Bris will notably be missing the significant impact that both Romaine Mundle and Dennis Cirkin can make down the left flank, however the latter looks likely to be back in contention this weekend with some well-needed game time.
Despite Mundle’s exclusion from the squad due to injury undoubtedly causing issues for Le Bris’ side, the French boss has name-dropped three surprise names that he looks forward to welcoming back to the squad, with all three managing just a combined 44 minutes of action between them so far this season.

Sunderland’s current injury crisis clearly spells the reason behind their recent attacking troubles in the recent games, with them managing just one goal in their previous three.
However, Le Bris is adamant that he doesn’t need to turn towards the looming January transfer window to solve his sides’ problems, but rather that the solutions lie within the current crop of players.
In his recent pre-match press conference, Le Bris said: “The core of the team is set now, it’s very clear. We can move one or two players but we can’t make many changes with the players available right now.
I hope we can in two or three weeks with another winger, like [Ian] Poveda, with another midfielder, Salis [Abdul Samed] for example, or with another striker, like Ahmed [Abdullahi].”

Whilst we have seen very little from the three players, there is no doubt that Poveda, Samed and Abdullahi will have quality that they can offer to the side, if they are currently undergoing top levels of fitness, but the reality is that the latter simply isn’t true at this moment.
Poveda in particular is a player that Le Bris must know by now needs to be treated with caution in regards to not dropping him into the side too soon after injury. That means that, whilst Sunderland have the quantity in regards to squad depth, to suggest that plenty of players in the squad are somewhat injury prone would be an understatement.
As a result, Le Bris should not be resting his January plans, or lack thereof on the return of players as this could easily backfire for the Frenchman and his plans.
