West Ham United took on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday night.Leicester City took the lead early on through a Jamie Vardy goal after the West Ham defence parted like the Red Sea.As the game wore on, it became more and more evident that we had run out of ideas inside the final third.
Our night was topped of when Leicester made it 3-0 late on.
There were plenty of poor performances out there, but one man took the biscuit as far as I’m concerned.
The Hammers actually dominated the first-half, and Julen Lopetegui looked perplexed on the sidelines after his side went into half-time 1-0 down.
After the half-time interval, West Ham continued to put pressure on the Foxes, but we found ourselves 2-0 down after 60 minutes.
It really was a smash and grab job from the home side.
West Ham man was awful vs Leicester
The Hammers have got way too many players who are underperforming right now.
Sure, Lopetegui hasn’t lived up to expectations, but the players need to take some of the blame as well.
There are plenty of players at the London Stadium stealing a wage right now as far as I’m concerned.
And nobody epitomises that more than Danny Ings. He was absolutely atrocious against Leicester on Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old found himself in numerous good positions against the Foxes but fluffed his lines every time.He has absolutely no pace or power and is painfully ill-suited to the lone striker role.
Quite why Lopetegui thought it would be a good idea to play him through the middle on his own is anyone’s guess.
To add add insult to injury, Ings stayed on for five minutes too long after picking up a problem towards the end of the first-half.
He was hooked at half-time and rightly so.
I don’t want to see Danny Ings start for West Ham anymore, after his stinker against Leicester City on Tuesday night.
Lopetegui must realise that as well.
