The hoops were barely recognisable from the side that beat RB Leipzig 3-1 and trailed to an own goal from Cameron Carter-Vickers at the interval.
Kasper Schmeichel didn’t have a first half effort to save from Brugge but the way that the Belgians played virtually silenced the expectant home crowd.
Rodgers made two changes in the 59th minute, 60 seconds later one of those subs, Alex Valle provided the assist for Daizen Maeda who equalised with his third goal in this season’s competition.
Both sides had chances to find a winner but with eight points to the seven of the Belgians Celtic are in a stronger position with a more favourable run of fixtures.
A top eight place now looks very unlikely but the hoops are on course to finish between 9th and 24th which will put them in the Round of 16 Play Off in February.
