Tottenham are back in Europe tonight and manager Ange Postecoglou is likely to heavily rotate his team.
Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has revealed that young Mikey Moore is on his way to great things and has already been impressing in training as he pushes for a first-team spot ahead of the Europa League game against Hungarian side Ferencváros.

The forward became Tottenham’s third-youngest player of all time when he came off the bench in a Premier League match against Manchester City. He was only 16 when he made his debut, and has since featured against Brentford, Manchester United, and Qarabag this season.

With Spurs missing captain Son Heung-min and needing to rotate the squad, the youngster is likely to get minutes tonight. Maddison, who admits he has to remind himself how young Moore is, has tipped him to become a key member of the team.

In the pre-game press conference, Maddison said: “When Mikey first came up, I had to remind myself how young he actually is. He was only 16, but he already looked like more of a man when I watched him play. He’s very powerful, and he’s only going to get stronger as he develops into his body. It’s quite scary how much ability he has.

But I don’t want him to feel any pressure because people are already talking about him, and rightly so. That’s down to him training well, getting into the first team, and getting the exposure he wants. First and foremost, though, he’s a great kid — really polite and well-mannered, which is a credit to his family. As a senior player, that’s the first thing you notice when a young lad comes up.”

Tottenham Picking Up Form

Tottenham have found their form and turned things around after the North London derby against Arsenal. Since then, they’ve won all four of their games, defeating Coventry in the League Cup, followed by wins over Brentford, Qarabag, and Manchester United.

The win against Manchester United would have given them a boost going into this game, and they’ll be hoping for another victory to take a significant step towards knockout football.

Peru international Paolo Guerrero has opened up about his failed move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 40-year-old is currently at Peruvian side Club Alianza Lima. He had a chat with DyT’s Diego Rebagliati and Talía Azcárate, reviewing his long career. This is when he revealed Tottenham’s approach, and his comments are relayed by his nfobae

Tottenham made an offer for Guerrero when he was at Corinthians between 2012 and 2015.

He won the FIFA Club World Cup with the Brazilian side in 2021, beating Chelsea in the final. The striker’s goal proved to the difference between the two clubs.

The frontman joined Corinthians in 2012, after spending 12 years in Germany with Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV. He had made up his mind to leave them in January 2013 and was determined to join the north London club.

Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar was then director at Corinthians. Guerrero took Tottenham’s proposal to the Brazilian, who didn’t let him join the Premier League side.

“When I arrived at Corinthians, I said to myself: ‘I win the Club World Cup and I’ll go back’,” he said.

“Did I have opportunities to return to Europe? Many, but Corinthians didn’t want to sell me or didn’t want to negotiate. The last offer came from Tottenham, which was a loan-purchase [option].”

“I went with the proposal to talk to Edu Gaspar, who is now Arsenal’s director, and I said ‘I have this, please’. His response was: ‘Do you want the crooked thing to kill me, Paolo? Rest assured that here you will be the highest paid footballer in South America’.” 

The Peruvian has revealed Edu and Corinthians failed to offer him a convincing renewal proposal.

“He didn’t comply. I didn’t renew with Corinthians because the proposal they made me wasn’t within what I think I deserved. I believed that because I was Peruvian, they were not valuing me. That’s how other proposals [Flamengo] arrived, and I left,” Guerrero explained.

The experienced striker hasn’t returned to Europe since leaving Hamburger SV more than a decade ago.
