Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to get back to winning ways when they get their League Cup campaign under way at Coventry City on Wednesday night.
Spurs have struggled so far this season. They could’ve easily got themselves 10 points from their opening four games, but have had to settle for four.
Tottenham could’ve hammered Leicester City and Newcastle United, but only got one point from both of these games.
Meanwhile, one goal was all that separated Arsenal and Tottenham, whose set-piece issues came to the fore once again.
The stakes are now high for Spurs as they look to avoid defeat to Championship outfit Coventry, and luckily for them, they don’t have many fitness issues.
However, one “unbelievable” player will definitely not feature for Tottenham due to injury.
Yves Bissouma hopefully back for Tottenham against Brentford
The player in question is Yves Bissouma, who is yet to recover from the knock he suffered on international duty with Mali last week.
Postecoglou said ahead of the North London derby that the Tottenham midfielder had suffered a “tweak in his groin”.
Now, the Spurs boss has told football.london that Bissouma is still not where the club’s medical team wants him to be.
Tottenham are hoping for the 27-year-old to be back in time for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brentford, added Postecoglou.
“Biss is still not where we want him to be but hopefully he there is a chance that he will be okay for the weekend,” the Spurs boss said of the “unbelievable” talent.
Which Tottenham fringe players could play against Coventry?
Postecoglou said in the same press conference that he was eager to see the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Pape Matar Sarr in action against Coventry.
“You can see them,” he said. “Yeah, they might even be on the pitch mate. Yeah, they’re ready to play and we’re keen to get them some game time. That’s why we brought them to the club.”
When do Tottenham play against Coventry?
Spurs kick off against the Sky Blues at 8pm BST on Wednesday night. The game takes place at the Coventry Building Society Arena
