According to TalkSport, Unai Emery is keen to bring the 29-year-old to Villa Park as part of a midfield overhaul, with the Villians already signing Youri Tielemans following his release from Leicester City as Oxlade-Chamberlain is now seemingly next on the agenda.
As per the report, the Liverpool fan favourite has already held talks with Villa, who next season will compete for the first time in over a decade via the UEFA Europa Conference League. And a move could soon be agreed given the pace the Birmingham-based club work at in the market.
Lauded as ‘unbelievable’ by Andy Robertson, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s time with Liverpool was marred by injuries. Yet when fully fit, the midfielder was a lethal weapon at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, and the former Arsenal man could flourish under a coach like Emery.
The Spaniard has improved many players already at Villa in his short time at the club. And for Oxlade-Chamberlain, Villa could present an exciting challenge for his career, especially with European football on the cards next season for the Villa Park side.
Emery’s work at Villa has been nothing short of incredible, and for a player like Oxlade-Chamberlain, working under the former Villarreal man could be a great move for everyone involved. Especially if the midfielder can stay fit and healthy.
With Villa also having a fairly big squad, Oxlade-Chamberlain will be giving the time needed to adapt to the system and to Emery’s tactics whilst also staying fresh. And for Liverpool, supporters could soon see a new player to who they have watched over the last few years.
