No defender has contributed to more Premier League goals since the start of last season than Pedro Porro:
“Tottenham are a really good team but we gave them a bit too much respect, sitting off a bit … we started the second half on the front foot, getting after them… that’s what changed the momentum,” he told Sky Sports.
The 37-year-old has now scored nine Premier League goals in 17 appearances against Tottenham.
Vardy said he had hurt his knee in a preseason friendly against Villareal but managed to get four training sessions in before the game.
“I’m looking after my recovery to the maximum,” he said.

Ange Postecoglou has told the BBC that it was a “disappointing outcome” for his Spurs side.
“I thought we were excellent first half and controlled the game. Really dominant with our football but just wasteful in front of goal, and the same in the second half, and when that happens, you keep the opposition in the game,” he said.
“We created chances and weren’t ruthless enough at other times, lacking composure. It’s stuff we need to fix. When you are so dominant you need to make sure it is reflected by the scoreline.”

Tottenham Hotspur played out a 1-1 draw at Leicester City in their Premier League opener on Monday night.
Spurs ran riot in the first half at the King Power Stadium as Pedro Porro opened his team’s account in the 29th minute.
Porro made a brilliant late run as James Maddison curled the ball into the box, and he glanced the ball into the back of the net.
However, for all of Tottenham’s dominance in the first half, they couldn’t pull further ahead and were made to pay for it on 57 minutes.
Leicester’s first shot on target yielded the equaliser as Abdul Fatawu’s cross from the right was headed in by the unmarked Jamie Vardy from five yards out.
The game opened up and both sides had good opportunities to grab a winner, but in the end nothing could separate the two clubs.

While some Tottenham players did well throughout the game, some weren’t quite as good, with mistakes being made.
For instance, Cristian Romero didn’t seem aware of Vardy’s presence at the back post when the Foxes equalised.
TalkSPORT pundit and Tottenham fan Jamie O’Hara was not impressed by the £165,000-a-week defender (Spotrac).
“I mean, look, it’s a great header from Vardy,” he said on talkSPORT (19/8/2024, 10:16pm).
But where is Romero going? I mean, honestly, world-class defender, won the World Cup, and actually a shambles.”
Much to work on
Romero did well at times during the Spurs game, but everyone knows that it’s all about the fine margins at the top level and the Argentine did let the side down for the equaliser.
A draw in the opening game – and on the road – is not a bad result, but the fact Tottenham could’ve potentially won 3-0 or more, given their early dominance, will be a bitter pill to swallow.
There’s a lot to work on and Spurs will be eager to play better when they host Everton on Saturday.
It wasn’t all bad, though. For instance, Gary Neville said one of Romero’s Spurs teammates did something “unbelievable” against the Foxes.
