Tottenham Hotspur have returned to Hotspur Way this weekend for their start of their pre-season efforts ahead of the new campaign.
After a summer break following their post-season trip to Australia, Ange Postecoglou is welcoming back some of his squad.
There will be a number of Tottenham players who return later in the summer as they continue their international duties.
However, there will also be a handful of players like Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy Ndombele who will not be returning having been allowed to leave the club as free agents.
Daniel Levy has been ruthless in his efforts to clear the decks for Postecoglou this summer but now attention is turning to bringing in money for some of the unwanted players.
And it seems Barcelona could now come into the frame for a player who the club are keen to offload over the coming weeks.
Barcelona could make move for £26m Tottenham player this summer
Now Spurs have offloaded a number of players for free, Joe Rodon has marked the club’s first sale of the summer.
The Wales international made the move back to Leeds United – where he spent last season on loan – as Spurs secured the signing of their youngster Archie Gray.
Although Spurs sit in a comfortable position when it comes to the financial regulations, bringing money back into the club through player sales is still important to their summer window.
And there is one player who the club are receiving considerable interest in already this month.
AC Milan are the side who are believed to be leading the race for the Brazilian this summer with the Italian side having already lodged a bid.
However, a return to Barcelona could now be on the cards for the defender just a few years after leaving them for Spurs in a deal worth £26m.
But the report does note that any move from Barcelona would come as a result of their failure to secure Joao Cancelo‘s signature.
Emerson Royal has given Milan his priority
Opportunities were few and far between for Emerson – who has been hailed ‘exceptional‘ – last season with Pedro Porro proving why he is the club’s starting right-back with a stunning season.
A departure this summer is looking increasingly likely for the 25-year-old who has already admitted he’d be keen to join Milan.
And it has recently been reported Emerson has given Milan his priority this summer with interest emerging for his signature.
But if Barcelona were to potentially offer his a return to the Nou Camp, it would be interesting to see whether he would change his preference.
