Brighton and Hove Albion have reportedly made a huge transfer fee for highly-rated striker Evan Ferguson
Over the past few years, Brighton have built a reputation for selling their players for maximum profit
For example, Ben White was sold to Arsenal for £50 million and Marc Cucurella was transferred to Chelsea for £56 million
This week Moises Caicedo was sold for a British record fee of £115m as the 21-year-old completed a move to Chelsea
18-year-old Irish striker Ferguson also attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea after a string of impressive performances
However, interested parties have now been told they will have to pay a new British record to keep Ferguson away from the Amex Stadium
According to The Express, Spurs are interested in signing Ferguson to replace Harry Kane, who has joined Bayern Munich
It is reported that after charging £115 million for Caicedo, the Seagulls want at least £120 million to part ways with Ferguson
Former Spurs striker and BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker says Ferguson is the ideal replacement for Kane
The former England striker said: “He is a natural goalscorer
“I will try to replace him as Kane

Speaking in a recent interview, Seagulls director Paul Barber said it would be at least five years before Brighton would be ready to do business with Ferguson
He said: “In Evan’s case, it will be at least five years from now
“Ultimately, the coaching staff make important decisions about where a player is developing, whether he needs more first team appearances or whether he should leave on loan or whether we should trade sooner or later
” Brighton will return to the Premier League this weekend when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers
