WILFRIED NANCY INSISTS HE’S NOT ABOUT LOSING OR WINNING AFTER CELTIC DEBUT

Wilfried Nancy insists he is ‘not about losing or winning’ after kicking off his Celtic reign with a 2-1 loss to Hearts.

And the Frenchman insists the level of performance against the Jambos showed him enough that things are going in the right direction. Celtic’s lack of prowess in and around the box at Celtic Park cost them dearly, with Kieran Tierney’s late strike giving them a consolation after Claudio Braga and Oisin McEntee netted for Derek McInnes’ Hearts to move them three points clear at the top of the table.
And ex Columbus Crew boss Nancy is adamant good performances outweighs the need to win every game. Celtic welcome Roma to Glasgow’s East End on Thursday before facing off against St Mirren in the Premier Sport Cup final in seven days time.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I’m not about losing or winning, I’m about having a good performance.

“We all want to win. But for me, we will look at what we can do better. The most important thing for me is what can we do better when we attack or when we defend and in terms of mindset.
For me, if we are better with that, we will see the results. Obviously we wanted a different result and that is totally normal but for me it doesn’t change anything.

“It’s more about the way we are going to keep going, and step-by-step, I think it’s going to be interesting.”

He also spoke to BBC Radio Scotland after the game, and added: “After we conceded the second goal, we started to rush. We could have been a bit better to attack and combine in a different way.
It’s not easy coming from behind against a low block. The spirit was spot on and there are many good things I can show them.

“It’s not about the system. For me, it’s to play with personality. The players want to do well and that’s the most important thing.”
