Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank knows that his side were lucky to escape with a win from Elland Road following a hard-fought game against Leeds United earlier today.
Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus earned Tottenham a 2-1 win at Elland Road, which ended Leeds’ long unbeaten run at home. However, the Whites should consider themselves unlucky to lose the game.
Noah Okafor got Leeds back in the game before half-time after the home side again conceded the first goal. However, they were the better side in the second half and had several chances to not only equalise but win the game at Elland Road.Frank is well aware that his team were massively lucky to win the game as Leeds created the better chances and should have at least got a point from the game.The Spurs boss insisted that contrary to the stats of the game, his side controlled the game and limited the home side to a very few chances at Elland Road.
He is aware that Leeds should have scored at the end, but insisted that overall he was happy with his side’s performances and believes they defended pretty well against a side with a brilliant home record.
Frank said on TNT Sports: “I think we were very good today, and we really limited Leeds to no chances, and I think that is as much as you can control a game here as possible.
“We did not feel in danger, and we limited Leeds to very little. I know they hit the post, but that was not a dangerous position if you know what I mean.
Yes, that is the thing I am proud of today, that we limited Leeds to nothing until the 80th minute onwards, and the game became a bit stretched.
“But up until that 80th minute, they didn’t really create anything, and I felt we controlled the game. I’m really pleased with the performance and win.”
“There were a few reasons why I felt that was a big game, a big one is the respect we have for Daniel Farke and this Leeds United team.
“Leeds have not lost here in more than a year, so it took a special effort to come here in difficult conditions and get the win.”
Daniel Farke will hope that the international break will allow Leeds to shake off this disappointment ahead of their clash against Burnley on 18th October
