Everton are determined to re-sign Tottenham forward Richarlison this summer and have made the unusual promise that he will be a regular starter and have a ‘leading role’ in David Moyes’ squad next season, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.
The Toffees are anticipating a busy summer transfer window ahead of their new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and have identified Richarlison as their preferred target up front.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract expiring and Armando Broja set to return to Chelsea once his loan finishes next month, Everton have made signing a new number nine one of their top priorities and are keeping a close eye on the Brazilian’s uncertain situation in North London.
Richarlison has struggled for regular game time under Ange Postecoglou this season and is believed to be considering his options, with two years left on his contract.
According to Bailey, Richarlison is yet to be convinced his future lies in North London, as he faces stiff competition for minutes next season.
Dominic Solanke is expected to be the first-choice striker regardless of who is in charge in three months’ time, and Richarlison ‘knows’ he needs to be playing regularly to boost his chances of making Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.
The 28-year-old has been hampered by three separate injuries at Spurs this season and has played just 918 minutes across 23 appearances in all competitions.
Everton are believed to have several alternatives to Richarlison in their striker search, with Monaco’s Mika Biereth and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson among those being considered.
The Toffees will finish 13th in the Premier League this season and face Newcastle away in their final game on Sunday.
