However, taking to social media, the 39-year-old right-back has now shared his own response to the reports doing the rounds.
‘Well I’m gonna burst your bobble this time,’ he responded to the club insider who shared the news.
It is not the news some Everton fans will have wanted to hear with Sunday’s game potentially being Young’s final goodbye in front of a home crowd.
Young could become the oldest-ever Premier League outfield player if he is to remain at Everton for next season.
But it now seems as if the reports of his new deal may be somewhat premature ahead of the Goodison Park Finale.
The 39-year-old is someone who has won a considerable amount of trophies during his career.
Moyes has praised Young’s leadership behind the scenes, which could prove vital during the move away from Goodison.
However, perhaps the news on Coleman’s future may have forced Everton’s hand in making a compromise with Young.
There is still time for a decision to be made, but it has to be said, Young is the player who has featured more prominently under Moyes since January.
