EFL Analysis expert Graeme Bailey has exclusively revealed that Russell Martin, Lee Carsley and Sean Dyche are among the names the Foxes have done “due diligence” on in the event that Van Nistelrooy leaves.
Martin has been linked with Leicester already, as have the other two, and preparations are being made for the new season.
Bailey also confirmed that the Leicester manager is “appreciated” by the hierarchy and how he has “presented himself during his time with the club”.
Additionally, Van Nistelrooy has given a presentation to the board explaining his steps for next season and that could be enough to keep him at the club.
