Leicester City have reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign Oliver Skipp, according to reports. The 23-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Sunday before completing a permanent move to the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes are expected to pay in excess of £20million for the midfielder, according to The Athletic. The deal is viewed as a good deal all round by the parties involved in the transfer.
Skipp struggled for game time under Ange Postecoglou last season. He made 24 appearances in all competitions but was predominantly used as a substitute. In fact, Skipp started just seven Premier League matches.
The Tottenham academy graduate has three years left to run on his contract and is now set to leave the club. It has been reported that Skipp has said goodbye to his teammates ahead of his move to Leicester.
Since making his first-team debut in 2018, Skipp has made 106 appearances for the club. Skipp spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Norwich and played 47 times for the Championship side.
Spurs travel to Leicester in their Premier League curtain-raiser on Monday, but Skipp won’t be able to feature even if his move to the Foxes goes through before kick-off. This is because the registration deadline for this weekend’s matches was at 12pm on Friday.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilón has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.
The Spanish left-back has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at the North London club ever since he joined them. He was on loan at Brentford and Manchester United last season and he has returned to his parent club now.
The defender does not have a future at Tottenham and he is expected to be moved on this summer. Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has now revealed to GMS that the player is likely to be sold.
“Reguilon also doesn’t have a future at Spurs, and there’s a few younger lads that are probably going to go out on loan, Devine and Phillips. Ange’s key target was Solanke, he’s now got a winger in [as well], but I still think there might be one or two things before deadline day.”
The defender is at the peak of his career right now and he needs to play regularly. He will not be able to hold down a regular starting spot at Tottenham and a summer exit would be ideal for all parties. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
He has shown his quality in La Liga in the past and there is no doubt that he is good enough to play for top clubs. A fresh start would be ideal for the defender and it would help him regain his form and confidence.
Tottenham have adequate depth in the full-back areas now and they will look to sell the player and invest the proceeds from his departure into the playing squad.
