Graham Potter has been criticised by the West Ham United fans after Monday’s defeat to Newcastle.
West Ham have definitely improved since Graham Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui two months ago.
And those in power behind the scenes at the London Stadium are said to be very impressed by the work Graham Potter has done at West Ham so far.
The Hammers head coach has undoubtedly lifted the spirits at West Ham.
He’s made us a lot harder to beat as well – that has been clearly evident.
However, the results simply haven’t been good enough. West Ham look like a limp attacking force under Potter’s guidance, and he actually apologised recently to the Hammers fans due to big improvements not happening quicker.
Whilst we don’t need an apology, we do need to see an improvement in the way that the team go about their business, especially during home games.
The Hammers have been far too passive under Potter for my liking, and it is a concern that the gaffer doesn’t agree with that sentiment.
West Ham fans criticise Graham Potter after Newcastle defeat
The loss to the Magpies on Monday night was a hard one to take.
It was a really poor game of football in general, and neither side really did enough to win.
Potter spoke to reporters and shared his pride at the commitment and application shown by his players against Newcastle.
However, it seems like the West Ham fans were not in agreement with Potter whatsoever.
One Hammers fans said, “Sorry, Graham, but last night was poor against a side who didn’t get out of 2nd gear. Don’t be stubborn like the rest…“
Whilst a second fan said, “It was terrible. Team talk should have been, ‘They have a cup final Sunday, first 5 minutes put one on them and see how much they want it’. Pretty much a non existent attack throughout, that was p**s poor and as bad as anything the last two managers had served up.“
Meanwhile, a third user on X said, “They didn’t give everything. Kudus effort levels were embarrassing. Even Bowen was ambling around tonight, which is very rare to see. Need to get some intensity back into this side. Negative line up, passive build up and no real game plan to score goals.“
A fourth West Ham supporter criticised the negative setup from Potter, “9 defenders at home is the issue…it works away.“
Then a fifth fan made his feelings clear on Potter’s set, “First real rubbish from Potter since taking over. You don’t deserve to win if you don’t score. Subs were awful—stuck a striker on with no service. Bowen & Kudus cancel each other out. Paquetá is a luxury we can’t afford right now. Poor all round.“
A sixth Hammer supporter then vented his frustrations, “Also watching West Ham this season is like watching cricket and I hate cricket it’s the most boring thing in the world it’s like watching paint dry also who cares if professionals can knock the ball around then pass back to the keeper why can’t any players actually shoot anymore.“
Whilst a seventh said, “I like the way he talks a lot. But, I disagree with him. We absolutely did not do enough to win the game. We had small patches but they were the better more threatening team. We were lacklustre, lacked creativity and penetration. Look better at the back. Also what a boring game!“
It’s clear to see from those comments that the Hammers fans are not on the same page as Potter when it comes to our performance against Newcastle on Monday night.

The key to Potter succeeding at the London Stadium will be him bringing in the players he needs to fit his system.
