Newcastle United fans are worried about the future of Alexander Isak, with speculation he could be on the way out of St James’ Park.
Alexander Isak has been an integral part of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United side since joining for a Magpies club-record fee in the summer of 2022.
Last season, the Swedish International netted 25 times in all competitions including 21 in the Premier League – the third highest of any player.
However, concerns over his have arisen since it was announced that talks over a new contract for Isak had stalled.
With Callum Wilson still struggling with fitness and William Osula looking promising but not ready for first-team football Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell will have their sights set on the transfer market preparing for the worst.
Isak was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer but a deal never materialised. However, if the Swede is to leave – who could replace him?
Jonathan David
Lille forward Jonathan David of has shown his quality in front of goal this season scoring 13 goals in all competitions including six in the Champions League.
Like Isak, one of David’s strengths is his finishing and ability to hold up the ball. Something the Magpies have struggled with this season.
The Canadian international is out of contract at the end of the season, so Newcastle could snap him up this summer without a fee. At 24, David is sure to have a number of clubs lining up for his signature with Newcastle also keen on making a deal happen.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
A player with lots of Premier League experience who is entering the prime of his career? Sounds good!
Some fans may groan when they see Newcastle linked to Dominic Calvert-Lewin but a manager like Eddie Howe is capable of getting the best out of him.
Howe is known for transforming players, he turned players like Miguel Almiron into goal-scoring machines while on the charge to Champions League football.
Patrik Schick
Another player out of contract in the summer, Calvert-Lewin was linked with a move to Tyneside last summer but a deal never materialised. Despite this, he has started every Premier League game under Toffee’s boss Sean Dyche this season.
Patrik Schick has had an inconsistent start to the season but looks to be finding his form again.
The Czech international failed to find the net in his first seven Bundesliga games before scoring four goals in his last two appearances including a hat-trick against Heidenheim on Saturday.
At 28, Schick still has plenty of quality left in him at the highest level and is someone Newcastle should look to sign as a cheap replacement for Isak should he leave.
