Newcastle United enjoyed an excellent week in the domestic cup competitions.
Only a few days after booking their spot in the Carabao Cup final, Newcastle reached the fifth-round of the FA Cup.
The win, however, may have come at a cost for Howe. Key defender Dan Burn came off injured in the second-half and Craig Hope of the Daily Mail noticed something concerning.Indeed, Eddie Howe made sweeping changes to his side for the trip down to Birmingham on Saturday evening and they just about worked.
Newcastle beat Birmingham 3-2 in a thrilling encounter, sealed by a late strike from Joe Willock. Even the dramatic scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story, with Willock’s first as controversial as they come given there were arguments the whole ball did not cross the line.
Still, what’s important is that Newcastle are still alive in the cup.

Not only has Gordon hailed the defender, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer revealed he praised Burn in a private text exchange.
While the extent of his injury remains to be seen, any worry with the trip to Wembley so close is most unwelcome.
Hopefully, Burn will be able to make that. The prospect of playing it without him seems painfully cruel for a local lad living his dream.
