Dele Alli looks like he won’t be returning to Everton any longer after it emerged he has been invited to train with Cesc Fabregas’ Como ahead of potentially joining the side.
The attacker joined the Toffees in the 2022 January transfer window, but only ever made 13 appearances in all competitions for the club due to fitness set backs and a loan to Besiktas.
It was a move that also threatened to create financial problems for the Merseyside club, given the structuring of the deal they agreed with Tottenham threatened to leave them even more out of pocket.
Having missed the whole of the 2023/24 campaign due to a groin injury, the 28-year-old’s contract at Goodison Park expired this summer.
Despite that, Dele has continued to train with Everton in order to rebuild his fitness with a potential view to earning a new deal.
However, it also seems as though there is the possibility that the attacker could soon be heading elsewhere, which has raised the eyebrows of some supporters.
Everton fans react as Dele Alli set to join up with Cesc Fabregas
Recent reports from the likes of Fabrizio Romano indicate that Dele could be set for a move to Italian side Como when he returns to fitness.
It is stated that the attacker is due to link up with the Serie A side – who are managed by ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Fabregas -and aim to secure move to the club, after watching win over Roma on Sunday (15 December)
Reacting to that news on social media, many Everton fans were keen to show their support for the 28-year-old rebuilding his career with such a switch, which many felt would be best for the attacker, while others were less complimentary.
One suggested the move represented a “middle finger” to the Toffees, while another asked if they could get a “refund” for the free transfer signing, presumably for his wages. Either way, another claimed under-pressure boss Sean Dyche wouldn’t have known what to do with the ex-England star even if he was fit.
