Julen Lopetegui’s next five Premier League games are “crucial” to whether he’ll keep his job at West Ham United, according to Sean Whetstone.
The reliable Hammers outlet reported via his West Ham Football X account (6 December), that a club insider shared that despite the next five games being crucial, if the bad results continue, a decision could come “much sooner”.
Names such as ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter and former West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick have already been linked with the hot seat ahead of their clash against Wolves on Monday.
“The board hope the results will improve and the next five games will be crucial for Lopetegui’s survival, but a decision could come much sooner than that if bad results persist,” he wrote.

This season has been well below par for the Hammers with the team currently sitting 14th in the Premier League and just five points clear of the relegation zone.
While a five-point cushion may seem like some decent leeway, if they manage to lose or even drop points to Wolves on 9 December, things could soon take an even bigger turn for the worse.
The Hammers’ game against Gary O’Neil’s men has been dubbed ‘El Sackio’ by some, with that phrase never being more true due to the underperformance of both managers.
Lopetegui has produced some moments of elation at West Ham this season but to be quite frank, these moments have come too far between one another to win fans over.
Only time will tell what the future holds but unless the Hammers come away with three points, Monday will likely be the Spaniard’s last time in the dugout.
